Sport and Enrichment News at Booth Wood Academy

This academic year has been extremely busy and successful for sport at Booth Wood. Over 50 pupils have represented the school in local competitions, achieving fantastic results and making our school proud.
We have enjoyed great success across a range of events, including 1st place finishes in Mixed Boccia/Kurling, Girls’ Football, Mixed Table Tennis, Mixed Badminton, Mixed Dodgeball, and Mixed Basketball (2nd place), as well as a strong 3rd place finish in Boys’ Football. These results have secured qualification for the Leicestershire County Finals.
Our after-school sports clubs continue to be well attended, with over 100 pupils taking part in Football, Handball, Netball, Basketball, Tag Rugby, Table Tennis, and Multi Sports. These clubs support skill development, confidence, and leadership.
PE lessons have included Football, Basketball, Netball, Tag Rugby, and Hockey, with excellent progress seen across all year groups. We also welcomed Mal from DRET Sports Team, who delivered engaging and high-quality sessions for both pupils and staff as a part of the DRET Sport CPD offer.
All pupils now take part in Forest School, with Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 already enjoying outdoor learning activities such as den building, tool use, and fire safety.
PE and sport are at the heart of Booth Wood, and we are excited for the year ahead with events such as the DRET Primary Cup, DRET Summer Cup, and further local competitions.
